Debuting in 2001, the Cohiba Extra Viejo (XV) came out in response to a high demand of full bodied, rich tasting, flavorful cigars. Staying true to Cohiba tradition, it uses a dark, sun-grown Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador which are aged in tercio for three years and then again aged in cedar casks for 6 more months to enhance its flavor. It also uses a Connecticut broadleaf binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican Ligero tobacco for a filler. The complexitiy of these cigars is due to its construction, along with the blending of rare tobaccos from around the world.
