Well known for its mild-to-medium bodied taste, Don Diego cigars have earned a wide following, thanks to their consistency of construction, accessible strength and excellent value for the money. This brand originated in 1964 in the Canary Islands, but production was moved to the Dominican Republic in 1982 and are now manufactured by hand under the supervision of master cigar maker and blender Jose Seijas. The number of shapes was reduced in 2001, eliminating Candela and the Mexican Maduro-wrapped shapes. Made by Altadis USA, who is also resposible for such brands as Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and Trinida, the Don Diego is an extremely mild cigar with a short finish. Each is made up of a silky, bronze Connecticut Shadeleaf wrapper and a smooth Dominican and Brazilian tobacco blend. Don Diego is considered one of the world’s most dependedable premium blands in the cigar industry because they are simply great, buttery-smooth, Dominican smokes.
