Jaime Partagas the founder of the Partagas line began the production of his brand in 1845 after he left Cuba for Spain. Ramon Cifuentes and his father also contributed greatly to the rich history of the Partagas brand. It is these two master cigar makers that made the Partagas the number one Cuban cigar. Ramon Cifuentes fled Cuba in 1961 after Fidel Castro took over the Cuban government in 1959 and after seven years in 1978 he began production of his brand once more in the Dominican Republic at the fertile Connecticut River Valley and it is here that he trained a man called Daniel Nunez who was to be his successor. The Partagas premium cigar is rolled in a unique wrapper grown in Cameroon, which is a country located in the Central West of Africa. The Cameroon wrappers are incomparable and are rich in flavor. Ramon Cifuentes discovered that the best wrapper leaves were grown in Cameroon and not Cuba. Let us review some of the brands of the Partagas line.
The Partagas Black LabelThe Black Label was created by Daniel Nunez and his colleagues , together they spent a good 10 years to create a flawless Medio Tempo wrapper and the La Vega Especial binder. The wrappers compared to most are darker and richer and this is because they are harvested after ageing 50% longer than the time it takes to age other wrappers. The binder is sun grown in the Dominican Republic giving it a nice deep rich flavor. This full-bodied cigar has a wonderful blend of Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero and Nicaraguan Ligero. This dark colored beauty is richly flavored and offers a creamy smooth draw and a sweet aroma. The pre-light features mild leather flavors with slight hints of chocolate, it is then followed by a mild pepper flavor as the leather and chocolate flavors intensify. The finish is peppery and smooth with a chocolaty aftertaste.
The Partagas Spanish Rosado. The Spanish Rosado features an auburn oily Honduran wrapper from San Agustin Valley. The filler is Dominican, Mexican and Honduran tobaccos and the binder is Connecticut Broadleaf. The first puff of this medium bodied beauty offers a delicious sweetness and some spice and as you continue to enjoy the Rosado you will be hit with some warm tobacco and citrus notes. This cigar is quite affordable and you will likely get better prices on the internet.
The Partagas Serie SThe Serie S got this particular name because of the five different shapes and sizes in this line. This handmade cigars hails from the Dominican Republic and features an oily delicious Cameroon wrapper, the filler is Dominican Republic tobaccos and a Mexican binder. The Primero from this Serie is a medium to full bodied cigar that features intense cedar and pepper flavors that remain throughout to the finish. The cigar brands from this line are pretty smooth and remarkably promising.
